BAPA will be holding its prestigious awards evening at Tally Ho Conference and Events on Saturday 19 October. The event will be hosted by BBC News’ Nicola Beckford, with acts including Apache Indian and Lytie Powell and will celebrate the achievements and valuable contributions our colleagues and community have made to driving diversity. Tickets can be purchased by contacting BAPA.
Chair Karen Geddes said: “This year we are celebrating our movers and shakers, the people who have come through the ranks, who have worked with their communities and partners and have helped change the face of policing.
“It is really important that our organisation represents the public we serve and our feature stories are aimed at inspiring and encouraging people to consider West Midlands Police as a career.
“There are still only 10 per cent of police officers in our force and 11 per cent of WMP employees who are from BAME backgrounds, with no-one above the rank of chief superintendent. We are working hard to ensure that our organisation continues to work towards reflecting the makeup of the West Midlands area.”
